Waxing is a great option for keeping your skin smooth and hairless for weeks, but it isn‘t a spur-of-the-moment decision. In between hair removal, your skin needs some prep to minimise your discomfort and help you achieve the best results. To make sure you’re ready for your next waxing appointment at A List Beauty, here is the best way to prepare.
1) Let your hair grow
One mistake that many people make is shaving before their first session, as they may be conscious about their pubic hair. Here at A List Beauty, I am trained to work with hair in these areas and it’s not something you should feel conscious about! Cutting or shaving the hair before your wax actually makes the waxing process more painful than it has to be. Wax can’t pick up hair if it’s too short, it’s in your best interest to let your hair grow before your first wax session.
2) Exfoliate
Gently exfoliate your skin a day or two before waxing, but avoid harsh scrubs the day of your waxing appointment. Exfoliation helps wax grab hair and not skin, but it can also leave skin more sensitive to pain, so lighter is better. Start by applying Ruff Stuff Body Scrub on clean, damp skin along with using A Bit Of Rough Japanese Exfoliating Cloth in circular motions.
3) Treat Ingrown Hairs
If you are finding exfoliation isn’t working on stubborn in-growing hairs we suggest using something to help with this. Opt for the Aloe Clear Bikini Saver which can be quickly and accurately applied throughout the day on stubborn ingrown hairs, for an instant, cooling and soothing effect.
4) Moisturise
All of the exfoliation can lead to dry skin which isn’t ideal. You need healthy, well-moisturised skin to allow the wax to release more easily. Go in with the Ruff Stuff Nourishing Body Oil to replenish any lost moisture and nourish your skin.
Incorporate these steps into your pre-waxing routine and you’ll be sure to have the best wax of your life! If you have any questions about preparing for your hair removal appointment, feel free to send me an email and I’ll help you out!
