HD Brows | Frequently Asked Questions

How long does HD Brows take?

The HD Brows treatment takes around 45 minutes but we would suggest allowing around an hour for the treatment.

In a rush? As a HD Brows Master Stylist I can also offer an express treatment which takes just 15 minutes.

How long do HD Brows last?

The effects of the treatment usually last around 4-6 weeks, however this can vary depending on your hair growth and how well it hold the tint.

After your first few treatments I will be able to recommend how often you should be having the treatment done.

I have sparse brows, can I still get HD Brows?

Hope is not lost! As an expert Stylist, I will work with you on a re-growth programme to achieve the perfect brow shape for you.

In the meantime, you can ‘fake it to make it’ with a little make up application, demonstrated by myself. Use HD Brows Lash & Brow Booster or Brow Maximiser to encourage and improve hair growth, apply twice a day to see the best results.

What’s the difference between HD Brows and microblading?

HD Brows uses a various hair removal techniques to create your desired brow shape lasting around 4-6 weeks and costs £35.

Microblading is a semi-permanent technique that sits under the tattooing family.

Pigment is implanted into the skin with a fine needle to create the look of hair strokes. Microblading typically lasts around 1-3 years and starts at approx £500.

Is HD Brows semi-permanent?

We do use permanent tint on the brows during the treatment, the lasting effects of this vary depending on skin type, routine etc. Results of the HD Brows treatment typically last around 4-6 weeks.

Can I get HD Brows at home?

As a Master HD Brow Stylist, I am trained to the highest level, have completed an intensive course and provided numerous case studies before being allowed to offer this luxury treatment in salon, therefore the treatment can’t be done by anyone who hasn’t been officially trained.

You can keep your brows looking fresh between treatments at home by using the HD Brows make up range.

How many HD Brows treatments do I need to achieve my desired shape?

It can take anywhere from 2- 20 treatments. But does completely depend on the amount of hair you have to begin with. Some clients can achieve their desired shape after just one treatment.

I will be able to advice how many treatments I recommend to give you the brows you eventually want during your first consultation.

How old do I need to be to get HD Brows?

Due to EU law, you can’t have your brows tinted under the age of 16 – don’t worry, you can still have the treatment done from the age of 13 with parental consent however we would just need to skip the tinting stage.

Do I need to do a patch test?

Yes as a first time client, if 6 months has lapsed since your last appointment or there have been any changes in your health or medication. You are required to collect your patch test and apply it 48 hours before your treatment to minimise any risk of reactions.  It can be collected at anytime text 07871041128 on the day you wish to collect.

What’s the difference between a HD Brows Stylist and a Pro or Master Stylist?

HD Brows Stylists have undergone intensive training to ensure they’re in line with their high quality brow standards.

Pro Stylists have attended further training to work on more advanced hair removal techniques. Master Stylists (such as myself) are trained to the highest level possible, they have attended even further training and can also offer brow lightening, the express HD Brows treatment and even facial hair removal.

Elite Stylists are HD Brows Trainers, and work for Team HD training the nation to offer the UK’s No.1 brow treatment.

Hair Removal | Frequently Asked Questions

How long does the hair need to be?

You will need to grow your hair for at least 4-6 weeks before a wax it should be about the length of a grain of rice. if you don’t leave it that long- i will know and you will be wasting your own time and money. hang tough and let it grow!

How long will the results last?

If you don’t usually wax, your hairs will grow back slower than usual for the first couple of weeks. after this- your hair growth may speed up again.

After repeated wax treatments your hairs will appear finer, softer and sparser. this is not permanent but will last while you are having regular waxes and not shaving.

How often should I be waxed?

Every 4-6 weeks but this depends on how fast your hairs grow. everyone is different. Most of my clients like to come every 4 weeks to ensure that clean, smooth and sexy feeling all the time- some can last for 6 weeks. after time you may find you can go longer in-between waxes.

Why get waxed?

You won’t get that horrible stubbly, rough feeling you get after shaving nor does it damage the skin in any way like those foul smelling hair removal creams!

Waxing is good for men and woman of all ages. Being waxed before a holiday is also a great idea. Who wants to be sitting around the pool looking like a yeti!

A lot of younger girls love to have Bikini waxes as the “Boyfriend loves it” wink wink!

Conquer the fear

I am a fully qualified and experienced professional Beauty Therapist and Female Intimate Waxing Specialist. I have trained in the Kim Lawless advanced methods of waxing such as female intimate and speed waxing and have been waxing since 2000.

I also use the best wax on the market. Trust me.

How can I make it more comfortable?

It is a fact that shaved hair is much tougher and stronger than waxed hair which will make it more painful.

Step away from the razor! You can help yourself by trimming the hair before you come to about ½ an inch. The longer the hair the more painful it will be.

The first time is always the worst but after that it gets much better.

What if I am on my period?

I am happy to offer treatments while you have your period providing you wear a fresh tampon/ moon cup.

Please be aware that the week prior to, and during your period, many people feel heightened sensitivity, so it’s best to avoid waxing at this point in your cycle.

You can take a couple of painkillers around an hour before the treatment if you are concerned about pain.

Everyone feels and handles pain differently so if you do experience any- it will be for a matter of seconds. That’s it!

After Care

What to avoid for 24hrs after your waxing:-
Extreme heat
Very hot baths/ showers
Steam rooms, saunas and Jacuzzi’s
Public swimming baths
Sunbeds
Sunbathing
Going to the gym
Perfume or deodorant
Fake tan
Make-up on the waxed area
Tight clothing

What you should do after 48hrs:-
A couple of days after your waxing, start to gently dry brush the area a couple of times a week to help avoid ingrown hairs.  Keep the skin moisturised.

What to look out for:-
Your skin may be pink or raised for several hours following your waxing, but this is normal. If any spots or rashes persist for more than a week, or become infected, you should see your GP.

Why come to A-List Beauty?

Girls if you are having an intimate wax (E.g. Hollywood, Brazilian or G-string) you will need to strip off from the waist down.

If you are going for a wax make sure you are going somewhere reputable. A fully qualified Beauty Therapist at a trustworthy salon. As with anything, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. If you’re paying £10 for a Brazilian at the place over the road, you’re going to get exactly what you pay for.

They just have bad technique and could cause serious damage to your private parts! Read the reviews from my existing clients- they speak for themselves.

HD Brow Patch Testing | Frequently Asked Questions

HD BROWS® Patch Testing Policy

Patch test instructions

As a first time customer, if 6 months has passed since your last patch test or there have been any changes in your health or medication, a patch test is compulsory. This is to ensure your safety. Wax patch tests are optional. HD brows patch tests must be applied 48 hours before your first treatment and left on for me to check.  I will not be able to tint if I can’t see it on you.
All patch tests must be booked online. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your booking. More information is provided via email upon booking. Please email hannah@alistbeautytherapy.co.uk if you are unsure when your last patch test was.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding & under 16’s

If any of these apply to you, you cannot be tint, therefore a patch test is not needed. However I can still use and recommend products that you can use in-between your appointments and your eyebrows will still look great 🙂

Reaction to patch test.

If you find that you have reacted to the patch test, it is your responsibility to let me know asap and rinse the area immediately. If you fail to inform me of this beforehand and go ahead with the treatment, I am no longer liable for any reaction that took place. As per my insurance policy, I am required to take reasonable steps to prevent this i.e. do the patch test. On the other hand, if you do let me know about the reaction I am able to adapt the treatment to suit your sensitivity and skip the tint. If then you choose that you do not want to go ahead with the treatment at all – the 50% deposit will be retained and remain non-refundable.

Tint Patch Testing instructions

IT IS MANDATORY FOR A HD BROWS PATCH TEST TO BE CARRIED OUT ON EVERY NEW CLIENT, 48 HOURS BEFORE EVERY TREATMENT.

How do I use the patch test?

The patch test works like a temporary tattoo, simply remove from the packaging, peel off the clear plastic film and place the ink side down onto the inner forearm.

Wet the back of the test and press until the test slides away from the arm, leaving the transfer behind. Full instructions are provided for the customer within the patch test leaflet.

At the appointment, I will check the patch test for signs of a reaction and remove using the wax when testing the heat.

What does the patch test do?

The HD Brows patch test is the only practical aid used to identify potential hypersensitivity to the tints.

This patch test delivers a small amount of PPD and Resorcinol to the surface of the skin.

A reaction should occur within 48 hours if sensitivity is present, if you suspect a reaction has occurred, the patch test must be immediately removed (using sticky tape) and medical advice sought.

Even if only a slight reaction occurs, I will not tint your brows.

Is the tint patch test 100% guaranteed to identify an allergy?

No, even if you have a negative result to the patch test this is no guarantee that a reaction will not occur during or after the treatment, that is an informed risk that customers choose to take when undergoing the HD Brows treatment.

The HD Brows patch test checks for sensitivity to PPD and Resorcinol only, it will not identify customers who are sensitive to any other ingredients found in tints and dyes.

Some of the patch test has come off before the treatment, will it still work?

Although customers must not remove or wash off the patch test before their treatment (unless a reaction occurs), small amounts of fracturing (when sections of the test flake away from the skin) during the 48 hour period is normal.

The PPD should still be absorbed by the skin, therefore not skewing the results.

If most of the test has fractured or if there is any doubt that the test has not worked, I will skip the tint for that treatment and test again 48 hours before their next treatment.

I have had an allergic reaction to other tints/ dyes/ henna previously, should I be tested to see if I can have the HD Brows tint?

NO! If you have ever been exposed to Black Henna in the past, you must also never be patch test or tinted due to Black Henna containing such large amounts of PPD that you’re likely to react with further exposure.

Can I re-dye my brows in-between treatments and would I need another patch test?

Manufacturer’s guidelines for use of the HD Brows Dye prohibit re-dyeing of the brows until a minimum of 4 weeks has passed.

This is to prevent over-exposure and minimize the risk of reactions for the customer.

We advise all clients to read through our terms and conditions before making a booking. They are put in place to safeguard the salon and ensure maximum standards and service is offered to the client.

Upon booking an appointment you are agreeing to the following terms and conditions:

Cancellation Policy

In order to continue providing the best possible scheduling options to my clients, I do require 48 hours notice should you need to cancel or reschedule your visit with me. Should you cancel your appointment with less than 48 hours notice, a £15 per service cancelled fee does apply and will be due before a new appointment is scheduled.
For your convenience, you can move/ cancel appointments (with the required notice) yourself 24 hours a day via my website. If you have any issues doing this, contact me via email at hannah@alistbeautytherapy.co.uk.

Cancellation Policy March 15th- December 23rd 2020

I totally understand that life is unpredictable right now. Because of that I’m going to waive my cancellation policy. If you’re not feeling well I completely understand, let me know and please stay home.

If I or anyone in my immediate family is showing symptoms, I will not be seeing clients and will be staying home for 2 weeks. However I will do my absolute best to get you taken care of.

Arrival Time

Please arrive promptly for your treatment. Late arrivals will result in a reduced treatment time, charged at full cost. Your appointment will be carried out at my home salon where there is no waiting area, therefore I am unable to accommodate you until your appointment time.

Consultation Forms

Before your first appointment, you will receive a New client profile via email prior to your treatment. This information is required for your health and safety.
It may be necessary for you to consult your GP before treatment can be given. If there are any changes to any medication you are taking (orally or topically) then I need to know as this could affect your treatment.
Failure to complete this may result in cancellation of your appointment.
This will be treated with the strictest confidence and in line with GDPR and your personal details will not be shared with anyone.

Pricing

I reserve the right to alter, modify and amend my prices / packages without prior notice.

Patch Testing

A patch test is required for all new clients for HD Brows, Brow lamination and lash tinting treatments, also if 6 months have passed since your last appointment or if there have been any changes in your health or medication.
Wax patch tests are optional.

Patch testing is slightly different for each service. See below:

-HD brows patch tests must be applied 48 hours before your first treatment and left on for me to check.  I will not be able to tint if I can’t see it on you.

-Model brows (brow lamination) & eyelash tinting patch tests are carried out topically by myself at my home salon, no later than 48 hours before your appointment and within 2 weeks of the date of your appointment.

All patch tests must be booked online. Failure to do so may result in the cancellation of your booking.

In effect from the 2nd May 2017, HD Brows tinting policy is that clients under the age of 16, and clients who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not be tinted as part of the HD Brows treatment. All other parts of the HD Brows treatment can be completed, the manufacturers of the product just advise to skip the tinting stage.

Children

I love children, but a salon is not the safest place for little ones, since breakables, hot equipment, sharp objects and chemicals are in regular use. Due to safety considerations and limited space, I am unable to accommodate anyone else in the room aside from the person having the treatment as I do not have a separate waiting area. The only exception is in the case that an under 16 is having a treatment, in which case a chaperone is required. You must be a minimum of 13 years old to have a brow treatment. In an effort to keep appointments relaxing, enjoyable and distraction-free for everyone, I ask that you please make childcare arrangements prior to your appointment.

Service Complaints & Retail Returns

I strive to offer my guests the highest level of customer satisfaction. If you are having challenges with your brows or after a wax, let me know within 7 days of your visit and I’m happy to correct the issue with no additional charge. Should you make a retail purchase that you are unsatisfied with, I will accept retail exchanges at full credit for 30 days from your initial purchase.
